About the City
Why visit
New Orleans?
New Orleans is one of America's most unique cities — a place where French, Spanish, African, and American cultures have blended into something entirely its own. The French Quarter's iron-lace balconies, the smell of beignets, and the sound of live jazz spilling onto the street create an atmosphere you won't find anywhere else.
From Mardi Gras to the Jazz Fest, New Orleans knows how to celebrate. But even on a quiet Tuesday, the city hums with music, flavor, and a joie de vivre that's completely infectious.

Travel Tips
The French Quarter and Garden District are walkable. The historic streetcar lines are a charming and practical way to get around.
February–May is ideal. Mardi Gras (Feb/Mar) is spectacular but very crowded. Avoid summer — it's extremely hot and humid.
Frenchmen Street has free live jazz every night. Café Du Monde's beignets are a must and very affordable. Many festivals are free.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International (MSY) is about 15 miles from the French Quarter. Taxis and rideshares are readily available.
